Bears in the Woods
September 19, 2015 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Ever wondered how you’d manage in the cold, frightening aftermath of a nuclear attack, with every single Domino’s in the whole of Yorkshire closed indefinitely? What if your EasyJet flight to Sitges crashes in northern Spain and you’re just sitting there on a mountainside with two broken legs, getting licked by goats? Don’t worry, the Yorkshire Bears are here to save your fat ass and equip you with some vital survival skills. Plus if we all come out of it unscathed then we’re going to go the whole hog at some later date and spend a whole night deep in a dark forest crapping ourselves in a bivouac of our own making.
We’ll be in the safe hands of Bushcraft expert Steve, who by the looks of his photo would be wise to keep a few large sticks in reserve to beat back all the bears lunging for his chopper. We’re stumping up the cost of the taster session from group funds, which means this event is FREE to all Yorkshire Bears members who’d like to attend.
Steve has promised to educate us in the ancient woodland arts of Firecraft, Water Filtration, Whittling and Greenwood work. We’re not quite sure what some of these activities are, and we’re mainly hoping that ‘water filtration’ isn’t going to mean drinking our own piss. But hey, if that’s what it takes to survive, we’re just going to have to get on with it – no one said this was going to be easy.
The event takes place at Carleton near Pontefract, and lifts from Leeds will be available. Join up to the event if you’re part of the Facebook group, or if not then drop us a line to reserve your place using the contact form on the front page, or by email.
This is all going down between 1pm and 4pm on Saturday 19th September, which will give us plenty of time to get home, shower, and come down off all the magic mushrooms, before heading down to John and Colin’s Big Fat Quiz which begins at 7pm that evening
